Though the Fund for Veterans' Education exists to bolster the inadequate level of educational aid available to our nation's veterans, there are some existing programs that seek to make a college education a reality for those returning from war, and those who are still in the service. If you wore the uniform and are thinking about college, or a civilian interested in other programs available, the links below are a good place to start.
Department of Veterans Affairs' G.I. Bill Website - The Department of Veterans Affairs has created this website so veterans can better understand the benefits currently available to them for higher education, under the Montgomery G.I. Bill. Included are a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page and a list of approved Education and Job Training Programs, License and Certification Programs, and National Exams.
Military.com G.I. Bill Aid Page - Military.com has set up this page, where veterans can request information be sent to them from colleges with G.I. Bill-approved programs, as well as a list of scholarships that may be available for veterans. Subscription to Military.com is required.
Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges - Dedicated to those troops who are still on active duty, Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium colleges and universities are dedicated to helping servicemembers and their families get college degrees. Military students can take courses in their off-duty hours at or near military installations in the United States, overseas, and on Navy ships.
